Bioactive and Biofunctional Peptides

Bioactive and Biofunctional Peptides

Save the date - April 9, 2026

Impulse Days Bioactive and Biofunctional Peptides is a scientific event that will take place in Nancy on the 9th of April 2026.

This event aims to bring together the scientific and industrial community working on bioactive and biofunctional peptides in France and internationally, in the Nancy area. It also strengthen the French scientific community ahead of the 5th International Symposium on Bioactive Peptides, co-organized by CNRS, Université de Lorraine, Teagasc and the University of Limerick in Ireland, to be held from June 14th to June 16th 2027.

Bioactive and Biofunctional Peptides

Lots of scientists are focusing their attention and interest on peptides for their applications related either to their biofunctionality (metal-complexation, emulsification, targeting properties, etc.) and their bioactivity (antimicrobial, antioxidant, antihypertensive, anti-cancer, etc.) with some methodologies and applications common to this type of biomolecules.

The program will focus on the production of functional peptide ingredients with targeted bioactivities or techno-functional properties and on their relevant separation strategies. The separation dimension will cover both analytical-scale and process-scale techniques used to isolate, purify, and characterize peptides.

This scientific day will boost the scientific community working on such peptides and will be the starting point for future collaboration on this hot topic, with a specificity on the screening and separation strategies used for their discovery.

Topics

This 3 mains topics will be declined in the following scientific themes :

  • Agro-industrial by-products, fermentation, enzymatic hydrolysis
  • Sustainable production and valorisation of peptide sources: circular bioeconomy and sustainable raw materials
  • Separation and purification technologies for peptides: downstream processing and fractionation methodologies
  • Membrane processes, chromatography, precipitation strategies, hybrid processes
  • Scalability constraints, cost-efficiency, downstream processing limitations, regulatory aspects, and integration into industrial production chains
  • Bottlenecks and challenges in industrial-scale peptide production
  • Academia–Industry synergy for peptide research and development: alignment of research goals with industrial needs
